The McKameys
Updates

              10.1.09

Just a quick update on everything that is going on! First, let us say Praise The Lord for HIS goodness to each and every one of us! Everyone is doing great and to HIM we give all the praise!! Tomorrow, October 2nd, will be 2 years since the kidney transplant for Eli and Roger. WOW, time has really flown by. They are both still doing great. I look at Eli and I can't believe what a difference the last 2 years has made in his life. God not only worked a  miracle with the transplant, HE also changed his outlook on life! Eli stated the other day that "2007 was one of the greatest years of my life". When I asked why was that, (I was thinking of the kidney failure, and the dialysis, etc...) he said that is when "God gave me new life". Eli is so full of positive energy, and I believe when you see him, those of you who remember the pre-transplant days, you will see the difference in his life. On the new project coming out in a few weeks, Eli has selected a song that Sheryl wrote several years ago, that he rearranged to fit his "style"! The song says, "This Is My Story". Every time I hear Eli sing this, I am blessed because he tells everyone, there is nothing as sweet as telling what God has done for me! WOW, GOD certainly has been good to him and our family!!

Be watching for the new release "The Message" from The McKameys, coming in a few weeks! We are very excited about this project, we believe there will be a song that will be your favorite! We sure have several....

Until next time....

We thought we would give you all an update since it has been a while and since several things are going on with The McKameys. First, let me say that Eli and Ruben are doing great! Eli had his check-up with his doctor last week and she was just thrilled with his progress. He is really getting taller and looking so healthy. She said she would not need to see him for 4 months! (Except for labs, of course!)  Also, Ruben had his checkup with his doctor 2 weeks ago and his doctor was able to cut down some of his medicine, and Ruben is doing really good. He feels so much better. We thank God for what he has done for our family!!  All of the other group members are doing well too!

The 26th Annual Hometown Singing was wonderful! As usual, Peg always has a surprise for all those in attendance, and this year she had the "original McKameys" to sing together on stage. It was wonderful to go back and see where the group started from! The entire weekend was a wonderful, spiritual uplift! Make your plans for next years event, June 11th and 12th, 2010! You don't want to miss what might happen there.

We are getting ready to go back in the studio next month and we are excited about our new material! Sheryl has written several more new songs, one of which we debuted at this past Home Town Singing Breakfast, entitled "The Message"! She will have several new songs on this project, and she is looking forward to being back in the studio, it has been about 26 or 27 years since she has been in the studio. We are hoping to have a new project out later in the fall of this year! Be looking for that!

Also, for those of you who have been following The Family And Friends Tours, the National Quartet Convention Board has asked the two groups, The McKameys and The Inspirations, since this is our 10th year of doing this tour, to showcase this tour on Wednesday afternoon at 1:45.  Check out your showcase listings to find out the place.. If you are planning on being at The National Quartet Convention this year, come by and see us!  Until next time.....

Just wanted to update all of our friends that have been praying for Eli and our family. Eli is doing really good. Today he went back to the doctor and had labs. The doctor was elated with how good Eli is looking. She said that he looks the best she has seen him. Then when we got the blood work report, we had to stop and thank GOD for HIS faithfulness and HIS answering our prayers! Eli's blood work was really good! Everything seems to be going back in the "normal" range, and to GOD we are grateful! HE IS WORTHY!! Eli will go back to the doctor in April for labs and will see the doctor again, and she feels like after that visit he will only need to come back once a month. Thank you all so much for thinking of us and taking our need to GOD. We appreciate all of you, our friends. Keep praying and we will keep you posted....

CHANGES COMING TO THE MCKAMEYS

It is with great sadness and yet optimism about our future that The McKameys announce a personnel change within the group.
After more than 26 years as the alto singer with the group, Carol Woodard told the group in September 2008 that "with her husband's recent retirement, she believes this is the right time for her to come off the road and enjoy being at home with him, as well as her grandchildren..." She will perform with the group through March 2009.
After much, much prayer and seeking the Lord's guidance with what to do, the group, knowing that they could not replace Carol, decided to fill her position. Sheryl Farris, Ruben and Peg's other daughter, will be stepping in to the alto position and will be traveling with Carol and the group during March. Sheryl will begin the full position on April 2nd. Some of you may remember Sheryl as she traveled with the group from 1972 - 1983 at which time Carol stepped in. Sheryl has been a vital part of the group since then with her song writing.
As with any transition of a close family group, this will not be easy. We know we can't replace Carol but we believe we have found someone that all our friends and fans will enjoy getting to know and love as we do!
We will truly miss Carol, however we wish her the best and she will always be a part of The McKameys!
Please pray for The McKameys during this time and come out and support the group and Carol and welcome Sheryl Farris!

Dear Prayer Warriors,
Today, Thursday February 5th, Eli had his lab work and the results were not good. His labs revealed that he is dehydrated and needs IV fluids as soon as possible. His creatinin was back up again; however, the doctor believes this could be due to the dehydration. Eli was sick on Tuesday evening with, what we thought, was a virus so they moved his blood work from yesterday until today. As I am writing this Eli is back in the hospital with IV fluids going in his body. The doctor says they will do labs again tonight and again in the morning and see if this changes the labs. Please continue to pray for Eli, he has really been through a lot these last couple of weeks and yet he has been a real trooper. We know that God is able to  fix everything in his body and we know that God is in control, we are trusting in HIM. We will try to keep you updated as soon as we know more from his lab work.

On another note, Ruben went back to his doctor today. He still has a lot of swelling and pain from the cellulitus and so his doctor has ordered more antibiotics and some other medication for the swelling. He is still
trying to continue on with his work, so please pray for him.

Please continue to pray for the group, it is times like these that being a close knit family group, it is hard on all of them. We will keep you updated as we can!

We just wanted to update all of you, our friends, and prayer warriors, on Eli and Ruben. First of all, Eli got a good report from his doctor today. His lab results indicated that the rejection was stopping, and almost everything was back in the normal range. His creatinin was down from last week. He will have labs again on Wednesday, February 4th, and we will see if there is any change then. Praise God for HIS great healing!! Ruben is still in the hospital on IV antibiotics, but is progressing very well. His doctor says possibly one more day on IV antibiotics and he might be able to go home on oral antibiotics tomorrow! He is feeling much better already. We would like to say THANK YOU for your prayers, e-mails and phone calls concerning our guys, we appreciate all of you. We will try to keep you posted with any other changes!

Dear friends,

Several people have read our latest update that reads we had to cancel a date in Abilene, TX due to sickness this past Saturday night and they have took this to mean that Eli has taken a turn for the worst. Please let me clarify something for all of you. First, Eli has taken all 4 of his IV infusions and has done very well. However, he will get his blood work done in the morning and that will let us know where things stand with him. As far as how he is feeling, he feels great! We will let you know how things are going after tomorrow. The reason the group had to cancel the date in Abilene, TX was because Ruben got sick on Friday night in Fort Smith, AR and the group felt like he needed to get back to his doctors at home. They made the trip back in about 12 1/2 hours and Peg took Ruben to the emergency room and after some blood work, Ruben was hospitalized with Cellulitus. The doctor said they got him back just in time. Ruben is now in the hospital for at least a couple more days on IV antibiotics, but he is already feeling better and getting a little stronger each day. We appreciate your prayers for both Ruben and Eli and we will keep you posted on the progress with each of them.

1.22.09

Just to give our friends, and prayer partners an update on Eli. As some of you know Eli has been having a few abnormal labs reports (since November 2007). His creatinin has been yo-yo-ing since then. Eli's doctor has been carefully monitoring this and changing a few of his meds because of this. However, his lab report on Monday, January 19th, his creatinin level went really high and his doctor was getting concerned. She then scheduled a kidney biopsy for Wednesday, January 21st along with another nuclear medicine test of his kidney. This morning we received a call that there were no obstructions or blockages in the kidney, but  Eli has acute rejection in his kidney. (We praise God that this is not Chronic rejection, that would be worse.) Eli had to be started on IV medication for the next 4 days, and his anti-rejection medication had to be changed. The doctors will do labs on Monday morning, and depending on what they look like, we will go from there. We are very optimistic, and we know that GOD is in control. We have been leaning on HIM during Eli's sickness and his transplant, and HE has NEVER failed us! We are trusting God to take care of this and show the doctors what HE wants done for Eli! Please help us pray that the through the medicine, GOD will put everything  back on track! Because of the IV medication, Connie and Eli will not be traveling with the group this long, week-end to Texas. Please pray for the rest of the group, this can't be easy on them either! Thank you in advance for your prayers, and we will keep you updated!

Thank you for your prayers for our family and please keep them (Eli, and Sheryl,) in your prayers. We'll keep you posted.
